Change Your Lenses – Your Eyes Depend On It!

Do you ever leave your soft contact lenses in for longer than you're supposed to? It's common knowledge that a lot of things are at their best when they haven't been used too much. It's important to know that the same can be used to understand the importance of changing your contacts. There is no shortage of reasons not to keep your contacts in your eyes for any longer than you've been advised to. Although you might be tempted to use them just one more time, if you care about having healthy eyes, don't ignore the lens timetable recommended to you by your optician. So, if your optician tells you to change pairs monthly, then change them every month, because they can't withstand reuse.

You might think, would it be so bad if I got a couple extra wears out of them? To answer this, let's examine protein - and we don't mean the kind you eat, but the natural protein that is a main component of the tears and eye fluids that builds up gradually on your lenses and forms a light haze. Blurry eyesight is just the initial result.

After some time, these proteins evolve and trick your immune system into thinking the accumulation is a foreign particle, and the body's reaction can result in eye irritation, itching and redness. Which means a toll is taken on your vision. External elements like pollen or dust can also build up on the lens, which also makes vision less clear. Even when you're strict about caring for your contacts, as time goes on, they become less clear and smooth, due to normal wear and tear.

It's smart to keep to the routine your eye care professional decides on for you. When you change your lenses on time, you will never even see the difference that is so apparent when you use them longer than you're supposed to.
